National Healthy Homes Month – June 2020
June is National Healthy Homes Month (NHHM), created by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) Office of Lead Hazard Control and Healthy Homes (OLHCHH). The campaign’s aim is to promote ways to keep people of all ages safe and healthy in their homes. Click here to learn more about the NHHM campaign.

Dirty Little Secrets About House Dust
Chances are most families haven’t put much thought into the harm house dust may cause. House dust seems harmless and easy to clean; but, dust can actually be hazardous to your health! Dust can carry harmful chemicals for a very long time. Watch a series of videos featuring five-year-old Eleanor, as she shares what she’s learned about dust from her dad, an environmental scientist. These videos will touch upon helpful tips to mitigate exposure to these chemicals by reducing toxic dust in the home.
Other Risk Factors for Leukemia Found in the Home

Some potential risk factors found in the home include pesticides, cigarette smoke, paint/petroleum solvents, polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs), folate, and polyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs).
